Kudditji Kngwarreye
Born: c1930 Location: Utopia Language: Eastern Anmatyerre
Kudditji Kngwarreye is one of Australia's leading Aboriginal artists. He was born around 1930, near Boundary Bore, Utopia. Kudditji, like his sister, Emily Kame Kngwarreye, is the custodian of his country. This land is situated approximately 230km north east of Alice Springs.
Kudditji has been represented in a number of international exhibitions. He has gained recognition for his unique style. Although approaching his eightieth year he still paints in a vibrant, passionate manner. A highlight of his current work reveals his ability to contour and form his dreaming paintings, attuning them with the symbolism and ceremony.
Recently, Kudditji Kngwarreye's 'My Country' paintings have gained international attention being successfully represented at the Arken Museum of Modern Art in Copenhagen.
